Foundation plan update week 39 | Walks | Social Media
It is week 39, so we will be making our workouts a bit more intense. It's a new week, so time for a new amount of reps. Because of the foundation building process, I like to increase the reps with 25 regarding the push-ups and squats and 5 reps regarding the pull-ups.
This week my goal is to do 250 push-ups every other day, together with 100 squats & 60 pull-ups every other day together with a run between 3 and 4 km. Building it up this way still feels really good and that's what counts to me. I think it's really important to listen to our bodies and to be patient regarding the foundation building process. Like this we can get used to the resistance, and we'll prevent injuries. That is super important as we got to keep going! I think you'll be surprised if you check in same time next year.
Besides all the working out, I also started to walk more. It's not only great for our bodies, but also great for our minds. When my children aren't asleep I take them with me. I really love taking them outside let them explore, seeing new things. It's nice for them, because we are visiting (for them) new playgrounds, new places, new things to see and do.
When they are sleeping, I just go by myself. Walking gets my creativity going for some reason. Many times the topics for my YouTube channel and this blog are entering my mind during one of those walks.
Another thing during these walks, is the fact that I have the time to think very well about these topics. At home there can be a lot of distractions. I don't have a separate space where I can be be totally alone to work on something. So when my partner is talking to me, or when she's watching television or whatever she's doing - it is causing distraction. When I'm taking a walk there is nothing that can distract me, especially not when I'm in nature. It's just me, my thoughts and nature. The only reason I grab my phone is to take notes and pictures. I quit social media, so that's not distracting me anymore. I am not kidding when I say that my productivity got a boost off 500% since I've quit social media. I think it has been one of the best decisions I have made in a long time! It gives me so much peace and space. I don't need to know what my social media friends are doing. Most of them are not even friends anyway. They are just people I have met along the way.
Also, I've been thinking about the fact that my brain is not made for social media. I think it's the number one reason why people are so restless these days. Constantly checking what other people are doing. We are not made for that! We are made to mind our own business and to make the best of our lives. There's nothing wrong with exploring, but I don't see social media as exploring. It is a big waste of time, unless you are making tons of money with it. It's full of fake things and fake people. Instagram is one of the biggest fake social media networks that exists on the incredible World Wide Web. Fake people living fake lives which are giving other people a fake impression of what's real. It's sad for the youth these days though. They get totally brainwashed. They get a complete deceived perception of how the world is, works, how people are and what they're doing. My kids are young yet, but I'm curious on how we'll be dealing with this when they get older. Time will tell, but trust me - daddy will be prepared. By the way - not everyone is fake on social media, but MANY are :)
So, it was great getting this off my chest. That's one of the reasons I love blogging. Writing is special to me.
I hope you've enjoyed reading this blog post!
